I have a confession: I’m a coffee addict. A morning without the rush of caffeine in my body throws me out of whack. I’m not even picky with my coffee—any kind is fine as long as it gives me the brain boost I need. Unfortunately, because of some health reasons, I’ve had to let go of my favorite morning pick-me-up.
And then I met my match-a.
Truly A Matcha Made in Heaven
It all started with a grande hot green tea latte courtesy of one particularly famous coffee chain. As I was enjoying this new smoking hot drink, I decided to pull up a Google search to check the benefits of matcha. To my surprise, I found that matcha has a number of benefits for my caffeine-dependent body!
Did you know that matcha has the same effect as coffee?
If you’re a coffee lover like myself, you’ll be pleased to know that this variety of green tea can help kickstart your day—minus the side effects of palpitations and stomach acid. Matcha has a calming effect. So if you come to work feeling overwhelmed with the pile of tasks that are waiting for you, a cup of matcha can help you find your center.
Of course, daily trips to a coffee shop just to get your fix might burn a hole through your wallet. So why not consider making one for yourself? You’d be surprised how easy it is to DIY this drink at home or in the office since you can purchase the powder from different online sources
- 1 ½ teaspoon matcha powder
- 1 tablespoon hot water
- ¾ cup hot milk
Preparation time: 5-7 mins, serves 1
- Scoop 1 ½ teaspoon of matcha powder into a cup.
- Add a tablespoon of hot water and stir the powder until all the lumps are dissolved.
- Add ¾ cup of hot milk and serve.
Wasn’t that easy? Instead of prepping instant coffee, I recommend giving this healthy option a try!
If it’s that kind of day where deadlines leave you with no time to prepare your matcha latte, you can always grab your phone and order from places like the Matcha Factory in Makati and Presotea. Wherever you are and whenever you might need it, getting your green tea fix can be as easy as a click of a button.
