Panda Peeks – Wasabi Warriors Manila

At first glance, Wasabi Warriors is everything you would want in a dine-in restaurant with your friends. The heavily wood-themed restaurant invites passerbys to enter with its cozy ambiance and atmosphere. Upon entering, one would immediately notice the Wasabi Warriors mural of “Eat Good, Do Good and Feel Good” on the walls which signifies much more than simply being an eye-catching design.

Wasabi Warriors prides itself on being a brand which is socially-responsible, eco-friendly and definitely healthy. It has become increasingly rare to find a brand as ethically and environmentally aware as Wasabi Warriors. For example, a huge majority of the ingredients used in the restaurant are sourced locally through sustainable and environmentally conscious suppliers. All this is done without sacrificing the quality of their dishes, a much more difficult task than it sounds.

The use of excellent local ingredients along with the sushi-making prowess of Suzy, their resident sushi robot, results in a truly one-of-a-kind gastronomic experience. Their menu of sushi offerings ranging from seafood sushi such as their fresh salmon and avocado roll to Teriyaki Chicken Rolls for the meat-lovers ensure a happy tummy for every diner.

Hypnotizing Seared Salmon Nigiri to start us off

We started off with Wasabi Warriors’ Seared Salmon Nigiri – A mouth-watering union of perfectly seared, salmon pressed over vinegared rice. Every bite reminded me of my recent trip to Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, the seafood and sushi capital of the world. This first dish certainly got me excited for more!

Next up were the Warrior Packs which hosted a wide array of beautifully assembled sushi. I personally had the Ocean Warrior Pack which housed a splendid combination of fresh salmon rolls, tuna rolls and the tasty seared salmon nigiri I mentioned earlier. The all-seafood pack has since become a staple of my on-the-go menu given my pescetarian diet.

Warrior Packs – A beautiful assortment of sushi

My friend on the other hand had the Chicken Warrior Pack that sported honey soy chicken rolls, spicy chicken katsu rolls and our favourite seared salmon nigiri. This high-protein set was perfect for his diet given his background as a bodybuilder and personal trainer. The honey soy chicken rolls had just the right amount of sweetness to avoid overpowering the chicken.

On the other hand, the Spicy Chicken Katsu was fried to perfection resulting in crispy golden battered chicken that was still tender on the inside. Only after dining at Wasabi Warriors did we truly understand the beauty of their mission and vision. This is the first time we ate so much and felt so good and truly guilt-free.
